As a physician, Dr. Michael Williams views his role with patients as an educator in the health space, collaborator, and accountability partner. He feels that many corporate or hospital-based primary care practices loose the patient/physician relationship, don't focus enough on nutrition, lifestyle, and preventative care, and spend too much time checking boxes to make sure they are compliant with an insurance company or a hospital organization's policies as opposed to really dealing with the patient sitting in front of them. 

To that end, it is truly Dr. Williams’ goal to make access to care affordable. When looking at what type of practice model would best accomplish his goals, he decided on a membership model which includes unlimited office visits, telemedicine visits, and phone consultations without the barriers of copays and insurance deductibles at each visit. With our membership model, we do not accept or bill any health insurance plans, or medicare for office visits and services we provide.  This is due to the fact that as an independent practitioner, it is difficult to provide comprehensive care and maintain a higher level of customer service when forced to deal with insurance claims and regulations placed on practices by insurance companies and medicare. To ensure time and easy access for each patient, we will limit the total number of patients in our practice. At Ultra Wellness Medical, office visits will be covered under the patient's membership with no additional out-of-pocket expenses, copays, or insurance billing. We want patients to partner with Dr. Williams and have more open communication and access to healthcare without the barrier of charges for each visit. Patients deserve better care than 30 minute wait times on the phone, being offered appointments days to weeks out for acute problems, long wait times for in office appointments, doctors seeing new patients and expanding their patient panels while established patients are booked with ancillary providers and rarely able to see their own doctor, and office staff that make you feel like they are doing you a favor as opposed to seeing you as a customer. Sadly, this type of care is not the exception, but often the norm today in many hospital and large corporate based practices. 

Our hope is that patients will see the value of a physician/patient healthcare relationship. To help offset membership costs, individuals can use flex spending accounts to pay fees, and certain visits might be able to be submitted for partial reimbursement from your specific insurance carrier, although this could vary based on your specific plan. Most things like ancillary (in office) labs, such as flu swabs, urine tests, EKGs, and small office procedures like cryotherapy to destroy benign lesions, are covered with the membership plan. Items like x-rays and routine blood draws are done at outside labs like Quest Diagnostice and Labcorp to be billed as normal under insurance per the hospital, imaging center, or laboratory company.
